“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
– Dr Seuss
I recently read an article on Design for Longevity where they discuss how a garment should be designed based upon how the designers ideal customer wants to be perceived by others. Do they wish to fit in and be accepted into a group (wearing clothing as camouflage) or do they want to stand out and be noticed by others?
This makes perfect sense for a person wearing clothing in real life, but sometimes photography isn’t real life. In the images above, the clothing matches so closely with the background that you could consider it blending in with the surroundings. Yet the image actually stands out more for the fact that it all blends in. By blending in they have become intriguing, unusual, and a bit of fun.
